Eighth Biennial Conference on 9th to 11th January of 2009
1. The Eighth Biennial Conference took place at Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College in Kanuru from January 9th to 11th, 2009. The inaugural day commenced with a performance of Swagatha Natyam, skillfully directed by Dr. Vegantam Ramalinga Shastry. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. K. Roshaiah, the Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Planning, Small Savings, Lotteries, and Legislative Affairs. During the conference, the Yarlagadda Prabhavathi Sambhuprasad Awards were conferred upon Sri Parakala Pattabhi Rama Rao, the former Editor of Vishalandra in Vijayawada, and Padmashree Dr. Gayatri Sankar, an esteemed artist associated with All India Radio. Additionally, notable individuals such as Padmashree Dr. Tarlapati Kutumba Rao, Padmashree Thota Tarani, Sri M. Murali Mohan, and Smt. Kanumuri Annapurnamma were honored. The souvenir for the conference was unveiled by Shri Lagadapati Rajagopal, Member of Parliament. The inauguration of exhibition stalls featured an address by Shri Ramanarayana Reddy Anam, the Hon’ble Minister for Information & Public Relations, Cinematography, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology & Museum, Archives. Other dignitaries present included Shri Katta Subramaniam, Hon’ble Minister for IT, BT, Excise, PWSSB of Karnataka, along with several Members of Parliament and prominent figures from various sectors. The day concluded with an address from the Chief Guest, Dr. K. Roshaiah. 2. The second day of the conference was dedicated to a Women’s Seminar and a Cultural Program, with Smt. D. Purandeswari, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Human Resources and Development, serving as the Chief Guest. Following her address, the Guest of Honour, Smt. Ch. Sailaja Kiran, Managing Director of Margadarshi Chit Fund Ltd., along with other distinguished guests such as Dr. Kolli Sharada, former Mayor of Guntur, and Dr. A. Manjulatha, former Vice Chancellor of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, also spoke. The event included felicitations for Ms. Mamata Reddy, an ethnic textile designer, and Smt. Rajalakshmi Rao, a member of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal.
