Insights Of 9th Biennial Conference
1. The Ninth Biennial International Conference commenced on December 25, 2010, at 10 AM, held at the Mayor Sri Ramanathan Chettiar Centre in RA Puram, Chennai. The event featured Sri Y.V. Reddy, the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, as the Chief Guest, while Dr. D. Rama Naidu, a renowned film producer and recipient of the Dada Sahab Phalke Award, along with Smt. Sreedevi Kapoor, a prominent film star, served as Guests of Honour. Distinguished guests included Dr. V. Genguswamy Naidu, Chairman of M/s. Venkateswara Group of Companies and former President of the WTF, and Dr. V. L. Dutt, Chairman and Managing Director of The KCP Ltd. and also a former President of the WTF. The conference featured an awards presentation led by the Chief Guest, during which the Yarlagadda Prabhavathi Sambu Prasad Award was conferred upon Prof. Devalla Chinni Krishnaiah and Smt. Malati Chendur, while the B.S.R. Krishna Memorial Award was awarded to Dr. Potturi Venkateswara Rao, a senior journalist. A souvenir was released by Dr. D. Rama Naidu, followed by an address from Sri Y.V. Reddy. The WTF Women’s Wing Program took place on December 26, 2010, showcasing a variety of performances including the Bonalu Dance, a delegate session, a unique singing performance by Duer Sridhar, Janapada Nrithyalu by Swaralaya Vedika, and several other cultural presentations such as “Navvukundaam Randi” (Hasyavadhanam) and “Teluginti Bangaru Aadapaduchu.” The classical dance ballet titled “Telugu Prasasthi” and a performance involving pots with candles were also highlights, alongside a cine musical performance by the Youth Wing. The event was anchored by Smt. Suma Kanakala, a well-known TV presenter, with Hon’ble Justice R. Mala serving as the Chief Guest for the day. Guests of Honour included Dr. Swarnakumari Chitturi, a gynaecologist, and Smt. Urvasi Sarada, a film star. The Youth Wing Program featured a welcome address by Smt. Kavitha Dutt Chitturi, President of the WTF Youth Wing, with Mr. Sree Ramachandra, The program was enriched with cultural activities, including captivating music and dance performances, with classical music and dance segments particularly enchanting the audience.
